Radon Gas
Radon is a gaseous radioactive element having the symbol Rn, the atomic number 86, an atomic weight of 222. As a gas it is invisible and has no odour

Membranes
We supply and install radon barriers as well as methane protection geo-membranes for brown field sites. We also supply XR-5 and XR-3 geo-membranes for landfills

Existing Radon problems

If a radon problem exists in your home or work place we have the necessary skill and expertise to carry out quality remediation work to restore your house to a safe and environmentally friendly atmosphere to live in. Remediation work is normally achieved by coring into the foundation and installing an extractor fan to safely expel radon gas.

Sources of Radon
All rocks contain some uranium
Most contain a small amount - between 1 and 3 parts per million (ppm)
Some types of rocks have higher than average uranium contents
These include granites, dark shales, and some limestones

What are the known health effects?
We know from medical and environmental studies that radon can be a cause of lung cancer
Houses differ in their vulnerability to radon
The higher the uranium level is in an area, the greater the chances of high levels of radon
But some houses in areas with lots of uranium in the soil have low levels of radon
After smoking radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer
